OnRecord - Live Deposition Transcripts for Training Drills

OnRecord turns an in-person deposition drill into a formatted deposition transcript as it happens, without a court reporter. The operator sets up the room, names the examining attorney, defending attorney and witness, and the app transcribes live, labelling questions as Q. lines and answers as A. lines. When the session ends, the transcript downloads as Word and PDF in deposition format. OnRecord runs as a hosted web app you open in your browser. It uses your own Deepgram account for transcription: you paste your Deepgram API key into Settings, and Deepgram bills you directly for usage. That cost is not included in this subscription.

Warranty Coverage

  1. Before a session begins, the operator can enter participant names and assign each to one of three roles: Examining Attorney, Defending Attorney, or Witness.
  2. The app accepts live audio input from a connected microphone or audio device during a session.
  3. During a session, the app transcribes speech to text live.
  4. On one shared microphone, the operator can register each participant's voice by having them speak after selecting their name; lines the app then recognizes as that voice are labeled with that participant's name. A line the app cannot attribute is saved with no speaker rather than a guessed one.
  5. Examining Attorney speech is labeled with the speaker's name and formatted as Q. lines; Witness speech is labeled with the speaker's name and formatted as A. lines; Defending Attorney speech (including objections and interruptions) is labeled with the speaker's name and captured verbatim.
  6. The operator can correct speaker labels: reassign a whole line, or selected words within a line, to a different participant. Corrections appear in the on-screen transcript and in the Word and PDF files downloaded afterwards.
  7. The live transcript is displayed in a scrollable view on the operator's screen and updates continuously as speech is recognized during the session.
  8. The transcript is formatted double-spaced with line numbers 1-25 repeating per page throughout the document.
  9. Upon ending a session, the operator can download the complete transcript as a properly formatted .docx file.
  10. Upon ending a session, the operator can download the complete transcript as a properly formatted PDF file.
  11. Within 60 seconds of the operator ending a session, both the Word and PDF downloads are available and each downloaded file opens and contains the session's transcript.
  12. Up to 6 sessions can run at the same time; in each, the live transcript keeps updating while participants speak, and each can be ended and downloaded as in points 9 to 11.
  13. Completed session transcripts are saved and accessible to the operator for retrieval and download after the session has ended.
  14. The app is accessible via web browser on Windows and Mac without requiring any software installation beyond a supported modern browser.
  15. Transcription uses the subscriber's own Deepgram API key, which the subscriber provides and pays Deepgram for; it is not included in the subscription. The operator enters the key on the app's Settings screen, and sessions then transcribe using it. Without a key the app does not transcribe and keeps no recording, and the setup and record screens say so before a session goes on the record.
